TPUs for toe puffs & counters

The PEARLBOND® range includes crystalline thermoplastic polyurethanes elastomers (TPUs) specially developed for use as raw material in the manufacture of heat activated toe puffs & counters (shoe industry).

The PEARLBOND® grades are supplied in pellet form and can be applied by extrusion process (T-die) or sintering (in such case they must be previously cryogenically ground).

Crystallization rate

One of the most important features of TPUs for the toe puffs & counters industry is their crystallization rate.

The crystallization rate is determined in accordance with Merquinsa method (MQSA nº 12 B).

The figure below shows the difference between some PEARLBOND® grades.





Melt viscosity

The melt viscosity determined in accordance with DIN 53.735 indicates the TPU viscosity at different temperatures.

The figures below (Fig. 1 and Fig. 2) show such values for some PEARLBOND® grades.
